Vincent Tan Disposes 306 Million Berjaya Corp Shares In Direct Transaction

Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun has disposed of 306 million shares in Berjaya Corporation Berhad through a direct business transaction, according to a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

The shares, representing 5.247% of the company’s issued share capital, were sold on March 6, 2026 at a consideration price of RM0.26 per share, implying a transaction value of about RM79.6 million.

The disposal was carried out via Berjaya True Ascend Sdn Bhd, a company in which Tan is deemed to have an interest.

Following the transaction, Tan continues to hold a substantial stake in Berjaya Corp.

His direct shareholding stands at 499.18 million shares, representing 8.559% of the company, while his indirect or deemed interest amounts to 730.9 million shares, or 12.532%.

This brings his total shareholding to 1.23 billion shares, equivalent to about 21.09% of Berjaya Corp’s issued shares.

Tan, who founded the Berjaya Group and remains one of Malaysia’s most prominent businessmen, is also the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of STM Lottery Sdn Bhd, a major subsidiary of Berjaya Corp.

The disclosure was made pursuant to the listing requirements governing dealings by directors and key persons associated with major subsidiaries.

Berjaya Corporation Berhad is a diversified conglomerate with interests spanning gaming, hospitality, retail, property development, telecommunications and food and beverage operations across several markets.

The group is widely associated with Tan, whose business empire includes companies such as Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad and Berjaya Starbucks.

The latest share disposal comes amid ongoing corporate activity within the Berjaya group. Vincent Tan is also gearing up for the IPO of U Mobile, in which he is set to own a substantial stake, and the disposal could be part of the war chest building exercise.
