PM Declares Additional Public Holiday For Aidilfitri 2026

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional public holiday for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations, providing Malaysians with an extended break to facilitate travel and festive preparations.

The Prime Minister stated that the specific date of the additional holiday will depend on when the first day of Syawal is officially declared by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal.

To help citizens and businesses plan ahead, the Prime Minister outlined two clear scenarios based on the lunar calendar:

Scenario A: If Hari Raya falls on Friday, March 20 The government will declare Monday, March 23 as an additional public holiday. Which means employees will get Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday off.

Scenario B: If Hari Raya falls on Saturday, March 21 The government will declare Friday, March 20 as an additional public holiday. This will mean Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday off.
