MIMOS Bhd and the Global Electronics Association have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Malaysia’s electronics and semiconductor ecosystem, with a focus on advanced electronic packaging, industry alignment and globally recognised best practices.
The collaboration comes as Malaysia continues to emerge as one of Asia’s fastest-growing electronics hubs, supported by strong manufacturing capabilities, deep integration into global supply chains and a growing presence of multinational companies. The country has established strengths in assembly, testing and semiconductor packaging, with rising momentum in AI, high-performance computing, communications, power and automotive electronics.
The MoU outlines a framework for advisory and insights on global market trends, development of standards and best practices, capability building through workshops and knowledge-sharing initiatives, technical support for design, assembly and packaging technologies and ecosystem engagement across industry, academia and government.

Strengthening industry collaboration and developing globally aligned guidelines and standards will be critical to unlocking Malaysia’s full potential in this space.”
Dr Ranee Ramya, Country Manager – Malaysia at the Global Electronics Association, highlighted the importance of standards adoption and validation initiatives to position Malaysia as a leading hub for advanced electronics in Southeast Asia.
