ECoS, ACE Partner To Boost Sabah’s Power Grid Integration

The Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) has welcomed a delegation from the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE) to advance regional cooperation and the development of the ASEAN Power Grid (APG) initiative.

ACE, which recently secured approximately US$4.5 million in funding from the World Bank to support ASEAN Member States, aims to assist in preparing projects to evaluate APG interconnections.

Discussions focused on enhancing collaboration for feasibility studies, project preparation for APG interconnections and developing a joint framework for long-term capacity building in Sabah.

Datuk Ir. Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid, CEO of ECoS, emphasised that collaboration with regional partners is essential to supporting Sabah’s energy transition agenda and ensuring sustainable, reliable energy.

The meeting also saw participation from the ACE delegation led by Executive Director Datuk Ir. Ts. Razib Dawood and representatives from Sabah Electricity, including CEO Datuk Ir. Ts. Yaakob Jaafar.

The engagement highlights a shared commitment to strengthen energy security, promote sustainable development and advance ASEAN’s collective vision for an integrated power grid.
