Philippine Airlines Suspend Middle East Flights Amid Security Risks

Philippine airlines have suspended more flights to the Middle East amid escalating security risks linked to the US-Iran conflict.

Cebu Air Inc. said it has cancelled flights to and from Dubai until April 30, adding that further schedule adjustments may follow.

Philippine Airlines Inc. announced a temporary suspension of flights to Dubai and Doha until May 31, while services to Riyadh will be halted until April 9, citing risks to critical infrastructure and airspace safety.

The suspensions are expected to disrupt travel for Filipino workers in the Middle East who depend on these routes.

The move comes as the US-Iran conflict continues to strain global energy markets and push up jet fuel prices, prompting airlines to scale back operations.

Both countries have agreed to a two-week ceasefire after six weeks of conflict that has killed thousands and triggered a global energy crisis.

Philippine carriers had earlier reduced domestic and international flights due to rising fuel costs.

The government has indicated it may step in to help airlines secure jet fuel supply, as the global oil shortage threatens broader air travel operations.
