Malaysia’s best-known celebrity chef, Datuk Chef Wan, is making a return to the high seas in time for the school holidays. After strong demand earlier this year, StarDream Cruises is bringing him back on board the Star Voyager for a three-night sailing from May 22 to 25, 2026.
Departing from Port Klang, the sailing keeps things simple: a short break to Phuket and Penang, built around food and easy, family-friendly downtime. The collaboration with De.Wan 1958 gives the experience a distinctly Malaysian edge from the start.
The focus stays on Datuk Chef Wan. He leads a live cooking session during the cruise, with a curated menu served on the final night at The Lido, included in the fare. The spread leans into familiar Malaysian dishes alongside his signatures, served in a relaxed setting. A Halal section is available, and he is expected to make informal appearances during dining.
Away from the dining spaces, the ship keeps families occupied with waterslides, a kids’ waterpark, a rock-climbing wall and ziplining, plus evening shows. Accommodation is straightforward, ranging from interior cabins to balcony rooms, with The Palace Suites offering a more upgraded option.
The itinerary keeps things straightforward. Phuket features beaches and a lively atmosphere, while Penang highlights heritage streets and well-known food spots close to the port. The ship returns to Port Klang early on day four, making it an easy short break without stretching schedules.
This sailing is part of a wider lineup from StarDream Cruises, including shorter Phuket trips and regional routes from Singapore. Still, this one stands out for one reason — the return of Chef Wan, and a cruise built around his food.
