Former Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli said on X, he has been summoned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to provide a statement next week in connection with investigations into the government’s joint venture with global chip design firm Arm Holdings.
In a statement shared on social media, Rafizi said he received the notice on May 1, requiring him to appear at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya on Monday at 10am.
The investigation relates to allegations surrounding the joint venture agreement, which has drawn scrutiny since February following claims that the deal was rushed and potentially detrimental to national interests.
Rafizi, however, denied any financial misconduct, stressing that the probe centres on whether he had influenced Cabinet decisions or provided misleading information in relation to the agreement.
He also indicated that he has assembled a legal team in preparation for what could be a prolonged legal process, noting that several senior government leaders may be called as witnesses if the case proceeds to court.
