Ming Chun Takes Gepuklah To The Next Level With First Restaurant Launch

Ming Chun’s viral food brand, Gepuklah, is moving into its next phase with a permanent restaurant set to open this June. After weeks of overwhelming demand, the founder announced he is investing his own savings to secure and renovate a dedicated space, turning a short-term pop-up into a long-term operation.

The project is being developed with Leonard Mak, known online as @leonardbuilds, who will oversee the renovation. An exact opening date and address have not been confirmed. However, online speculation points to Damansara Jaya as a likely location.

Gepuklah first gained traction in April at a café pop-up in Petaling Jaya, where queues formed quickly and were still growing. Its later appearance at a Factory 19 food event pushed demand even further, with some customers reporting waits of up to five hours.

The menu puts boneless ayam gepuk front and centre, keeping its signature spice and crunch while making it easier to eat. It also brings in options like smoked duck gepuk and crispy oyster mushroom gepuk, widening the take on the familiar dish.

With a permanent outlet on the way, customers can expect easier access instead of relying on limited runs and long queues.
