Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan participated in the 31st ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting following the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, where regional leaders discussed security coordination, supply disruptions and rising cross-border crime challenges.
According to Wisma Putra, the meeting brought together ASEAN foreign ministers to review developments under the bloc’s Political-Security pillar and ensure the implementation of the APSC Strategic Plan 2045 aimed at building a more resilient and secure region.
Among the key concerns raised were global supply chain disruptions that have contributed to the smuggling of fuel, food and essential goods across borders, alongside increasing transnational crime and cyber-enabled threats affecting the region.
The ministers also stressed the importance of improving border coordination, intelligence-sharing and operational cooperation among enforcement agencies to address emerging security risks more effectively.
Wisma Putra said ASEAN member states emphasised the need for the bloc to remain united, adaptive and focused on protecting the interests, security and well-being of its people amid growing geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
