Govt Targets RM8 Billion Potential Deals Through MAHA 2026

MAHA 2026 is targeting RM8 billion in potential investments and RM55 million in direct sales as Malaysia ramps up efforts to modernise its agriculture sector through technology-driven farming and food security initiatives.

The Malaysia Agriculture, Horticulture and Agrotourism Exhibition (MAHA) 2026 will take place from Aug 28 to Sept 6 at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang, with the event expected to attract four million visitors and 2,000 local and international exhibitors.

Agriculture and Food Security Minister Mohamad Sabu said the exhibition would focus heavily on agricultural modernisation and advanced farming technologies from leading agricultural nations.

“We are targeting at least RM55 million in direct sales and RM8 billion in investment potential through the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and memoranda of agreement (MoAs),” he said.

Mohamad said around 800,000 youths are expected to participate in activities throughout the exhibition as the government seeks to attract more young people into the agriculture sector.

He added that the Cabinet had approved the continuation of MAHA 2026 despite ongoing global economic and energy uncertainties, given the importance of strengthening Malaysia’s food security agenda.

“This year’s theme is modernisation. We want Malaysians, especially those in agriculture, to learn about new farming technologies used by advanced agricultural countries such as China, Taiwan and the Netherlands,” he said.

In a separate press conference, Mohamad said the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is targeting between RM10 million and RM15 million in sponsorships for MAHA 2026.

Nearly 100 company representatives and potential sponsors attended today’s hi-tea session, where they were briefed on sponsorship packages, incentives and participation benefits.
