Strong 6.0-Magnitude Quake Rocks North Maluku Sea

A strong 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck the Northern Maluku Sea, Indonesia, at 9.05am on May 22, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

MetMalaysia said the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10km with coordinates located at 1.1° North and 126.1° East.

The epicentre was about 112km southeast of Bitung, Indonesia.

MetMalaysia said the earthquake posed no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
