Public Bank Appoints Founder Tan Sri Teh Hong Piow’s Daughter To Board

Public Bank Berhad has appointed Miss Teh Li Shian Diona as a Non-Executive Director effective June 1, 2026, further strengthening the Teh family’s presence within the banking group founded by the late Tan Sri Dr Teh Hong Piow.

The bank said the 55-year-old Singaporean brings with her experience in banking, asset management and financial services gained through roles in several international financial institutions in Singapore.

Teh holds a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Business degree from Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

She began her career at Citibank Global Corporate and Investment Bank in Singapore in 1999 as a customer service officer before moving to Standard Chartered Bank as a consultant in service quality in 2004.

She later joined Deutsche Asset Management as a product manager before serving as a senior product manager at Societe Generale Asset Management between 2006 and 2010.

Public Bank disclosed that Teh is the daughter of the bank’s late founder and Chairman Emeritus, Tan Sri Dr Teh Hong Piow, who built Public Bank into one of Malaysia’s largest banking groups.

The filing also noted that she is one of the executors and trustees for the estate of the late Teh Hong Piow, which holds a direct and deemed 22.02% stake in Public Bank, making the estate a substantial shareholder of the bank.

The appointment comes as Public Bank continues to maintain leadership continuity following the passing of its founder in 2022.
