Barisan Nasional (BN) will finalise its lineup for all 56 Johor state seats soon, with candidates set to be announced a week before nomination day, chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the early announcement would allow the coalition to address any potential issues in specific constituencies ahead of the state election.
BN will continue to apply its WALI selection formula — candidates who are winnable, acceptable and likeable — while balancing experienced leaders with fresh faces.
Zahid said new candidates would be introduced alongside incumbents to strengthen Johor’s future leadership pipeline.
“These three principles will remain. We will combine existing office bearers with new faces, and this time the new candidates will help shape Johor’s next generation of leaders,” he said.
On election preparations, Zahid said BN is strengthening its existing machinery while mobilising support from other states to bolster its campaign efforts.
