Golden Land Partners Maple Hospitality For Exclusive Sabah Short-Stay Project

Golden Land Bhd has entered into a strategic memorandum of understanding with Maple Hospitality Group, Malaysia’s largest short-stay property management company chain, to exclusively introduce the MapleSuites brand in Sabah through its upcoming development, The Playground @ Kota Kinabalu, in a move aimed at strengthening the state’s hospitality and investment landscape.

The collaboration positions The Playground @ Kota Kinabalu as the only development in Sabah operating under the MapleSuites brand, integrating short-stay accommodation with lifestyle and investment-focused living as the group targets rising tourism demand and growing interest in serviced residences in East Malaysia.

Golden Land said the partnership combines its property development vision with Maple Hospitality Group’s operational expertise to create a more integrated hospitality ecosystem in Kota Kinabalu while enhancing the long term value of its Sabah assets. The group added that the project reflects its broader expansion strategy in the state, supported by increasing business travel and tourism inflows.

The development, which is designed as a commercial suites project, will blend lifestyle elements with hospitality offerings and community focused spaces. Golden Land said this marks a continuation of its diversification into property development, which began in 2016 and has since expanded into residential, commercial and light industrial projects across Malaysia.

Maple Hospitality Group, recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the country’s largest short-stay management chain, currently manages more than 3,000 rooms nationwide across its MapleHome, MapleSuites and MapleReserve brands. The group has facilitated over one million guest bookings and accumulated more than 200,000 verified guest reviews.

Under the agreement, MapleSuites will make its Sabah debut exclusively at The Playground @ Kota Kinabalu, targeting modern travellers seeking short-stay accommodation with hotel-style comfort and convenience. Both companies said the collaboration reflects a shared goal of elevating Sabah’s property and tourism ecosystem through curated developments with long term lifestyle and investment appeal.
