AirBorneo CEO Apologises Over Flight Disruptions

AirBorneo Chief Executive Officer Megat Ardian Wira has officially apologised for the current predicament the customers of the airline are facing due to flight cancellations and travel disruptions caused by the airline’s issues.

The disruptions were caused by several aircraft being unavailable concurrently due to scheduled maintenance requirements and technical rectification works, of which were delayed due to the delivery schedule of key replacement components. While safety remains AirBorneo’s highest priority, the airline fully recognises the impact these disruptions have had on the communities that rely on its services daily.

“I would like to sincerely apologise to all guests affected by these disruptions,” said Megat Ardian Wira, Chief Executive Officer of AirBorneo.

“We understand the frustration, inconvenience and uncertainty this has caused, and we deeply regret the impact on our guests and their families. Our focus now is on restoring reliable service while ensuring every aircraft in our fleet continues to meet the highest standards of safety and airworthiness.” Megat said AirBorneo has implemented additional operational and maintenance measures to strengthen fleet resilience and support the progressive restoration of normal services.

“Recent events have been disappointing, but they do not change our commitment to serving the people of Sarawak and Sabah. We know we have work to do to restore confidence, and we are determined to earn back that trust through the actions we take every day.”

As part of its longer-term plans, AirBorneo said it is progressing its fleet renewal and expansion programme, including the planned introduction of ATR 72-600 aircraft.

The airline was formerly known as Wings and was operated by the national carrier, Malaysia Aviation Group, before being sold to the Sarawak state.
