KLCI Holds Steady Despite Weakness In Broader Market

Bursa Malaysia ended marginally higher on Thursday, with the benchmark FBM KLCI edging up 0.57 points, or 0.03%, to close at 1,679.53 as gains in selected blue-chip stocks helped offset weakness across the broader market.

Market breadth remained mixed, with the FBM70 Index declining 39.48 points, or 0.22%, to 17,912.41, reflecting continued selling pressure in mid-cap counters.

The broader FBM EMAS Index slipped 2.88 points, or 0.02%, to 12,453.60, while the FBMSHA gained 27.25 points, or 0.22%, to 12,443.74, indicating resilience among selected lower-capitalisation stocks.

Meanwhile, the F4GBM Index rose 0.61 points, or 0.06%, to 1,009.42.

Tanco Holdings Bhd emerged as the most actively traded stock on Bursa Malaysia on Thursday, with 2.33 billion shares changing hands despite slipping 0.3 sen to 20 sen.

Zetrix AI Bhd was the second most active counter, with 1.45 billion shares traded, falling 3.5 sen to 81 sen.

Among other active stocks being traded are MM Computer Systems Bhd (MMCS), VS Industry Bhd, and Hongseng Consolidated Bhd.

The mixed performance suggests investors remained cautious amid prevailing market uncertainties, with buying interest concentrated in selected heavyweight and sustainability-linked counters.
