The Eagles of Carthage announced the decision after the loss at Monterrey Stadium, which left them bottom of Group F with a goal difference of minus four.

Lamouchi, a former France international, was appointed in January after Sami Trabelsi departed following Tunisia’s last-16 exit to Mali at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The 54-year-old oversaw just five matches during his tenure, recording one win, one draw and three defeats.

Before taking charge of Tunisia, Lamouchi had managed Ivory Coast and several clubs in France, England, Wales and Saudi Arabia.

Tunisia now face a crucial Group F clash against Japan on June 20 as they seek to revive their hopes of reaching the knockout stage.

Sweden currently top the group with three points, while Japan and the Netherlands are level on one point after drawing 2-2 in their opening encounter.
