Bursa Malaysia closed mixed on Thursday, with the benchmark FBM KLCI posting a modest gain while broader market performance remained uneven.
The FBM KLCI rose 1.40 points, or 0.08%, to close at 1,711.39.
The broader market was largely flat, with the FBM EMAS inching up 1.08 points, or 0.01%, to 12,663.26, while the FBM Shariah Index gained 14.97 points, or 0.12%, to 12,489.71.
The FTSE4Good Bursa Malaysia (F4GBM) Index also edged higher, adding 0.28 points, or 0.03%, to 1,027.12.
However, the FBM70 Index slipped 19.76 points, or 0.11%, to 18,090.80, reflecting weakness among selected mid-cap counters.
TANCO Holdings Bhd topped Bursa Malaysia’s most active stocks list on Thursday, with 4.20 billion shares traded, closing half a sen lower at 14.5 sen.
BORNEO Oil Bhd was the second most actively traded counter with 2.34 billion shares changing hands, ending unchanged at 0.5 sen.
Among other active stocks being traded are HONGSENG Consolidated Bhd, SUM Technology Bhd, and ZETRIX AI Bhd.
Investor interest remained concentrated in penny and lower-priced stocks, with trading volumes led by Tanco, Bornoil and Hong Seng.
