Lianson Fleet Group Berhad is expanding its marine transportation capabilities with the acquisition of a Singapore-flagged Supramax bulk carrier, MV Sea Affluence, for US$15.5 million (approximately RM60.9 million).
The group said its wholly-owned subsidiary entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with an unrelated third party for the acquisition. The acquisition is part of LFG’s strategy to expand its fleet and diversify beyond its existing Offshore Support Vessel (OSV) business.
Built in 2012, MV Sea Affluence is a Supramax bulk carrier registered under the Singapore flag, with a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 56,735 metric tonnes.
The vessel has a gross tonnage of 33,044 and net tonnage of 19,231, with an overall length of 189.99 metres. It is equipped with five cargo holds, five hatches and four cranes with a lifting capacity of 30 tonnes each.
The purchase will be funded through a combination of internal funds and bank borrowings. LFG is currently in discussions with lenders to partially finance the acquisition while maintaining financial flexibility.
Delivery of the vessel is expected to take place in Brazil at a safe berth or anchorage, with the earliest Notice of Readiness date set for 25 July 2026 and a cancelling date of 31 August 2026.
LFG said there are no liabilities, contingent obligations or guarantees to be assumed by the group in relation to the acquisition.
