It’s a brand-new day, and with it, a brand-new trailer for Tom Holland’s upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. The new trailer highlights a new take on our friendly neighbourhood web-slinger than ever before.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously helmed the MCU film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which was released in 2021. Cretton was also attached to direct the fourth Avengers movie for a time, back when it was called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but stepped down from the position in November 2023.
Tom Holland is set to return as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, Emmy winner Zendaya as lovable grump Michelle-Jones, Jacob Batalon as ‘guy in the chair’ Ned Leeds, Academy Award nominee Mark Ruffalo as Dr Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Jon Bernthal as confidante Frank Castle/The Punisher, and Sadie Sink in an unknown role.
Following the events of No Way Home, Peter Parker is now living alone, given that the memory of his identity is wiped, including that of his best friend Ned and girlfriend MJ.
This, alongside mourning the loss of Aunt May and Tony Stark, that leaves Peter mostly all alone throughout this movie. The trailer highlights this, showing how his lack of any real companionship is having on him. Not only is Parker mentally not happy about things, but his body also looks to be going through some changes, which will throw him into even more of a spiral. This leads him to seek counsel from Dr. Bruce Banner, although it seems like things go awry when this mind-controlling new foe enters the picture and turns the entire city on its head.
This film also sees some other villains that comic book fans might recognize, like his standoff with Scorpion (Michael Mando), his occasional team ups with New Yorker Frank Castle, and taking down the assassin group The Hand.
And if that doesn’t sound good, this will: viewers can now prebook their tickets before July 31st. Sony announced, “For the first time in Spider-Man history, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been specially crafted in two native aspect ratios, delivering an optimized theatrical experience for audiences around the world no matter what screen they see it on. Brand New Day will be distributed in two versions: a 1.90:1 presentation for flat screens and a 2.39:1 presentation for scope screens.”
Amidst the summer blockbusters, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is surely one to look out for.
