Technology counters dominated Bursa Malaysia’s top gainers list on Monday, even as the broader market closed lower amid profit-taking activities.
UMS Integration Ltd emerged as the biggest gainer, rising 32 sen to RM9.02, followed by SAM Engineering & Equipment, which climbed 29 sen to RM5.19.
SkyeChip Bhd advanced 27 sen to RM3.36 on strong trading volume of 34.65 million shares, while TMK Chemical Bhd added 21 sen to RM2.75. Plantation heavyweight Batu Kawan Bhd rounded out the top gainers, edging up 12 sen to RM20.80.
On the losing side, Malaysian Pacific Industries (MPI) led decliners, tumbling RM1.06 to RM48.84. Nestlé (Malaysia) Bhd fell 92 sen to RM95.30, while United Plantations Bhd shed 70 sen to RM31.96.
PPB Group Bhd lost 50 sen to RM9.62, and Allianz Malaysia Bhd slipped 40 sen to RM21.20.
The mixed performance among individual counters came as Bursa Malaysia ended lower, with the FBM KLCI falling 11.19 points, or 0.65%, to 1,700.84, reflecting cautious investor sentiment despite selective buying in technology stocks.
