Audiences can now have lots of good fun that is funny with the upcoming The Cat in the Hat movie.
In the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat comes to the big screen in his animated theatrical feature film debut, an all-new, epic adventure with an edge, where mischief, magic and mayhem reign supreme. Based on the 1957 book of the same name, the original book centres around the Cat’s adventures at the narrator and his sister Sally’s home, causing havoc throughout. Things go too far, and the Cat helps clean up the messes that he made.
It was then adapted into a live action film in 2003, with Mike Myers as the Cat. While it was a critical and commercial failure, it gained cult status. Now, fans can return to the Cat’s realm with a 2026 animated film, which expands more on his origins and intentions.
In the film, our hero takes on his toughest assignment yet for the I.I.I.I. (Institute for the Institution of Imagination and Inspiration, LLC): to cheer Gabby and Sebastian, a pair of siblings struggling with their move to a new town. Known for taking things too far, this could be this agent of chaos’s last chance to prove himself…or lose his magical hat!
Emmy nominee Bill Hader voices the titular Cat, and Xochitl Gomez and Tiago Martinez are brother-sister duo Gabby and Sebastian. Matt Berry is the Fish, who dislikes the Cat, Emmy winner Quinta Brunson is Sherri, the HR director at the IIII, LLC, and Emmy winner Giancarlo Esposito is Mr. Hoogaboom, the Cat in the Hat’s boss who is exasperated by him. Academy and Emmy nominee America Ferrera is Gabby and Sebastian’s mother, and Bowen Yang, Paula Pell, and Tituss Burgess have been cast in undisclosed roles.
Directed and written by Annie Award nominee Alessandro Carloni and Academy Award nominee Erica Rivinoja, Warner Bros. Pictures Animation’s first full-length feature film, The Cat in the Hat, comes to theaters and IMAX® across North America November 6th.
