Malaysia Not Concerned If US Grants Pardon To Jho Low, Says Anwar

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Malaysia is not concerned if fugitive businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, is granted a pardon in the United States, stressing that the country’s priority remains recovering assets linked to the 1MDB scandal.

Anwar said any decision by the US authorities regarding Jho Low would not affect Malaysia’s position, as the government continues to pursue legal action and asset recovery through established channels.

He said Malaysia’s focus is on ensuring that funds allegedly misappropriated from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) are recovered and returned to the country, regardless of developments in foreign jurisdictions.

The Prime Minister added that Malaysia would continue cooperating with international enforcement agencies and governments in efforts to trace assets and bring those responsible to justice.

Jho Low remains wanted by Malaysian authorities over his alleged role in the multibillion-ringgit 1MDB scandal and has been the subject of criminal proceedings in several jurisdictions. He has consistently denied wrongdoing through his representatives and remains at large.
