Decliners Dominate Bursa As MPI, Batu Kawan Lead Losses

Declining stocks continued to dominate Bursa Malaysia, with losers outpacing gainers 620 to 403, reflecting cautious investor sentiment despite pockets of buying interest in selected blue-chip counters.

A total of 545 counters were unchanged, while 1,082 stocks remained untraded and 10 counters were suspended, underscoring the market’s mixed trading tone.

Leading the losers was Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd (MPI), which tumbled RM1.96 to RM45.82 on volume of 215,500 shares. Batu Kawan Bhd fell 46 sen to RM21.18, while Nestlé (M) Bhd shed 44 sen to RM90.76.

Also among the top decliners were Kelington Group Bhd, which dropped 20 sen to RM7.80 on active trading of 2.25 million shares, and Panasonic Manufacturing Malaysia Bhd, which eased 19 sen to RM5.70.

On the gaining side, United Plantations Bhd led the advance, climbing 38 sen to RM33.50, followed by Petronas Dagangan Bhd, which rose 28 sen to RM19.54. Other notable gainers included Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd, up 21 sen to RM5.56, Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd, which added 18 sen to RM18.68, and IHH Healthcare Bhd, which gained 18 sen to RM8.33.

Turnover decreased to 2.68 billion units valued at RM1.69 billion from 2.79 billion units valued at RM1.93 billion on July 3.
