The Dewan Rakyat is set for another day of scrutiny as Members of Parliament raise questions on public investment oversight, telecommunications infrastructure, support for businesses and child protection during today’s sitting.
Among the key issues, Wong Chen (Subang) will ask the Finance Ministry how the Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) Investment Panel, board and senior management monitored its investment in Indonesian aquaculture startup eFishery after July 2023, and why warning signs relating to governance and rapid growth were not detected before whistleblower allegations surfaced in December 2024.
Communications Minister will also face questions over the implementation of the JENDELA programme, with Dato Anyi Ngau (Baram) seeking details on the number of telecommunications towers completed but still inactive across Sarawak, particularly in remote areas, as well as the reasons behind the delays.
SME development will also come under the spotlight as Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari (Gombak) asks the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry to disclose the amount of assistance channelled to micro, small and medium enterprises since February 2026 and identify the types of support businesses require to withstand the ongoing global supply crisis for the remainder of the year.
The government is also expected to address concerns over rising child abuse cases at childcare centres. Dato’ Sri Dr. Ismail Abd. Muttalib (Maran) will seek measures to strengthen caregiver training, screening procedures and monitoring of childcare centre management.
Other issues scheduled for debate include the strategic plan of the Department of Broadcasting Malaysia regarding programmes with LGBT elements, as raised by Ahmad Saad @ Yahaya (Pokok Sena), as well as questions on flood mitigation studies in Parit Buntar and the latest efforts to improve communications infrastructure
