The wait is over: The Emmy nominations 2026 have been revealed—first on the Today show, and the rest unveiled by Liza Colón-Zayas of The Bear and Jeff Hiller of Somebody Somewhere, a pair of fan-favorite winners from recent ceremonies.
Overall, last year’s Drama Series champ The Pitt leads all nominees this morning with 25, followed by the final season of Hacks on the comedy side with 24 — a record for nominations in a single season for a comedy.
Apple TV’s new comedy series Widow’s Bay was third with 19 noms, followed by fellow Apple first-year show Pluribus with 18 and the second season of Emmy-winning Netflix series Beef with 16. There were even some surprising nominations, like Chase Infiniti for her role in The Handmaid’s Tale prequel The Testaments, Riz Ahmed for his parodic take on Bond in The Bait, and Kareem Rahma’s “Subway Takes”.
Sadly, there were some snubs. Much talked about series Heated Rivalry did not get a single nomination, but the HBO Max hockey hit wasn’t eligible under TV Academy rules because it is 100% Canadian funded and produced. The final season of Stranger Things did not earn a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series and in the acting categories, the same as the Prime series The Boys.
The 78th Emmy Awards will be held Sept. 14 at 5 p.m. at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Hosted by “Law & Order: SVU” star Mariska Hargitay, the live telecast will air on NBC and stream on Peacock. The Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which honor artistic and technical achievements as well as some performance categories, will be held on Sept. 5 and 6.
