Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has dismissed allegations that he recently purchased a new luxury vehicle for his personal use, describing the claims circulating on social media as false and misleading.
It was clarified that the vehicle in question was not acquired for his personal ownership or benefit, but forms part of the official fleet used for government duties.
Attempts to portray the vehicle as a personal purchase were intended to create a negative perception of the government and distract from its ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s economy and improve public welfare.
The Prime Minister stressed that all official government assets, including vehicles assigned for the use of the Prime Minister and senior government leaders, are procured in accordance with established procedures and are intended to support official functions.
Anwar has reiterated numerous times that his administration’s commitment is for a prudent financial management, noting that the government remains focused on fiscal discipline and ensuring public funds are utilised responsibly.
The clarification comes after photographs and online posts alleging that the Prime Minister had purchased a new luxury vehicle for personal use gained traction across several social media platforms.
Social media community had a field day with the image of the Prime Minister disembarking from a new BMW 7 series whom some allege to be bullet proof and has some of sophisticated features.
The public have been urged to be misled by unverified information circulating on social media and encouraged Malaysians to rely on official sources for accurate information.
