Bursa Gains Momentum As FBM KLCI Nears 1,715 Points

Bursa Malaysia traded higher at midday on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gaining 14.72 points or 0.87% to 1,713.16 as selected heavyweights supported market sentiment.

The index opened at 1,698.21 before rising to an intraday high of 1,714.05, while the broader market was mixed. The FBM EMAS Index added 58.24 points or 0.46% to 12,612.20, while the FBM Small Cap Index climbed 54.55 points or 0.44% to 12,451.94.

However, the FBM70 Index declined 90.40 points or 0.51% to 17,735.96, while the FTSE Bursa Malaysia F4GBM Index increased 5.34 points or 0.52% to 1,023.65.

Among the most active counters, Tanco Holdings Bhd led trading activity, gaining 3.5 sen to 27.5 sen with 2.48 billion shares traded. Velesto Energy Bhd fell 1.5 sen to 27 sen, while Vinvest Bhd declined 1.5 sen to 1.5 sen.

Public Bank Bhd was among the actively traded blue chips, rising 7 sen to RM4.99 with 205.14 million shares changing hands.

Among top gainers, Petronas Gas Bhd rose 42 sen to RM17.88, followed by Fraser & Neave Holdings Bhd which gained 36 sen to RM29.30. Petrochemicals giant Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd advanced 35 sen to RM4.70.

Meanwhile, losses were led by Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, which dropped RM1.08 to RM43.22. Nestle (Malaysia) Bhd declined 44 sen to RM91.28, while KGB Bhd slipped 18 sen to RM7.52.
