Malaysia Appoints Five New Heads Of Mission To Strengthen Diplomatic Outreach

Malaysia has appointed five new Heads of Mission as the country continues efforts to strengthen diplomatic engagement across key regions, with new ambassadors-designate assigned to Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, Italy and Morocco.

His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, presented the Letters of Credence to the newly appointed envoys during a ceremony held at Istana Negara on Tuesday.

The ceremony was attended by Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Utama Haji Mohamad bin Haji Hasan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs Secretary General Tan Sri Amran Mohamed Zin.

Among the appointments, Dato’ Muzafar Shah bin Mustafa has been named Ambassador-designate of Malaysia to the Republic of Indonesia, taking on the role after serving as Malaysia’s High Commissioner to India since 2023.

Muzafar Shah, who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995, has held several senior diplomatic positions including Ambassador of Malaysia to Mexico and Venezuela, as well as postings in Berlin and Baghdad. He has also served in key ministry roles involving finance, protocol, policy planning and ASEAN affairs.

Jamal Sharifuddin bin Johan has been appointed Ambassador-designate to Vietnam after previously serving as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Mexico since 2023. His diplomatic career includes assignments at Malaysia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, the Malaysian Embassy in Pyongyang and the High Commission in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Radzi bin Jamaludin has been appointed Ambassador-designate to Mexico after serving as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Cuba since 2023. His previous overseas assignments include postings in Singapore, Ottawa, Berlin, Santiago and Lagos.

Dato’ Shahabudeen bin Adam Shah, who previously served as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Morocco, has been appointed Ambassador-designate to Italy. He has also held diplomatic postings in Cairo, Washington DC and Amman, alongside senior roles within the ministry’s development and regional divisions.

Edi Irwan bin Mahmud has been appointed Ambassador-designate to Morocco after serving as Malaysia’s Ambassador to Laos since 2023. His diplomatic experience includes serving as Consul General of Malaysia in Perth and postings in Suva, Hanoi and Sana’a.

The appointments come as Malaysia continues to enhance bilateral cooperation and international partnerships through its diplomatic missions worldwide.
