PMW International Bhd has broken ground on a new RM43.76 million spun pile manufacturing facility in Bemban, Perak, marking a major expansion that will more than double the group’s annual production capacity and strengthen its position in Malaysia’s infrastructure sector.
The 12-acre Bemban facility is designed to produce up to 40,000 metric tonnes (MT) of spun concrete piles per month. Once fully operational in the third quarter of 2027 (3Q27), it will lift PMW’s annual production capacity to 718,000 MT from the current 238,000 MT.
The groundbreaking ceremony also saw PMW’s wholly owned subsidiary, PMW Winabumi Sdn Bhd, award a RM14.2 million construction contract to ECJ Construction Sdn Bhd for the project’s main works. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 1Q27.
The project is financed through a combination of internally generated funds and bank borrowings, with Maybank Islamic Bhd providing banking facilities of up to RM54.5 million to support the development, machinery procurement and working capital requirements.
Upon completion, the Bemban plant will become PMW’s fifth manufacturing facility in Perak, enhancing its ability to serve infrastructure, utilities, telecommunications and industrial projects across northern and central Peninsular Malaysia while improving logistics efficiency and delivery lead times.
Chief Executive Officer Lee Hon Hwa said the facility marks a defining milestone in PMW’s long-term growth strategy, providing the capacity and operational flexibility needed to capture rising demand driven by Malaysia’s infrastructure investment pipeline.
PMW remains optimistic on its growth prospects, underpinned by projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan, as well as investments in highways, utilities, industrial parks, data centres and telecommunications infrastructure.
