SIRIM said demand for testing, certification, calibration and training services grew by 48 per cent in a single year, nearly seven times the previous year’s growth rate of 7 per cent.
This growth was felt across all areas of SIRIM’s work, its order book has more than doubled from RM12.1 million to RM28 million.
The agency noted that much of this demand is being shaped by national policy. The New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) is steering Malaysian manufacturing towards higher-value activity, while the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan (RMK-13) prioritises sectors such as electrical and electronics, energy, smart manufacturing, aerospace, chemicals, and oil and gas. SIRIM works closely with ministries, regulators and policymakers in these areas, translating national direction into the testing,
certification and capability building that companies need on the ground.
“A 48 per cent jump in customers reflects a clear shift within Malaysian industry, where demonstrable proof of compliance has become a prerequisite for market access,” said Nik Sazali Nik Hussin, President and Group Chief Executive Officer of SIRIM.
SIRIM said it had reduced processing times by up to 98 per cent in targeted test areas and cut turnaround by four to seven days in categories including electrical equipment and safety products.
