Dolce & Gabbana has returned to Taormina for the latest edition of Alta Sartoria, bringing its made-to-measure menswear collection back to the Sicilian town where the Alta Moda journey began in 2012.
The presentation forms part of the brand’s annual Alta Moda, Alta Sartoria and Alta Gioielleria showcase, held across several locations in Sicily.
This year’s Alta Sartoria show took place at Taormina’s ancient Teatro Antico, one of Sicily’s best-known landmarks. The venue, overlooking the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna, has become closely linked to Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda events over the past decade.
Instead of a traditional runway, the presentation began with a performance inspired by the opera Cavalleria Rusticana before transitioning into the collection. The show drew on Sicily’s history and culture, using the setting to frame the latest Alta Sartoria designs.
The collection focused on Italian tailoring, with embroidered jackets, brocade fabrics, lace detailing and embellished eveningwear. Alongside classic suiting, the designers introduced softer silhouettes and decorative finishes that challenged conventional menswear codes.
Alta Sartoria was one of three presentations held during Dolce & Gabbana’s Taormina programme, alongside Alta Moda and Alta Gioielleria. Together, the events highlighted different aspects of Italian craftsmanship, from couture and bespoke tailoring to high jewellery.
The multi-day showcase also drew several high-profile guests, including Jennifer Lopez, Monica Bellucci and Erling Haaland.
More than a presentation of bespoke tailoring, Alta Sartoria reaffirmed Dolce & Gabbana’s continued focus on Italian craftsmanship and the cultural references that have shaped the house.
