Jabil Deepens Malaysia Footprint With 417,000-Sq-Ft Intelligent Logistics Hub

Jabil Inc has strengthened its footprint in Malaysia with the opening of a 417,000-sq-ft intelligent logistics hub in Penang, as the global manufacturing group ramps up automation to meet rising customer demand.

Located at Valdor Industrial Park in Sungai Jawi, the digitalised facility will use artificial intelligence, autonomous robots and automated storage systems to improve inventory management, traceability and material flow.

According to Jabil Senior Vice President of Operations HH Yeo, the hub is designed to support increasingly complex manufacturing requirements while helping Jabil manage supply chain volatility, rising logistics costs and growing capacity needs across the region.

“Coupled with the growth we see in the region, the new facility is a timely investment to enhance our automation capability and help Jabil grow to meet our customers’ future needs,” Yeo said, while sharing some of the hub’s capabilities include kitting, sequencing, packing, cross-docking, automated storage and retrieval systems, and just-in-time delivery to production lines.

The facility was delivered by PTT Synergy Group Bhd through its subsidiary PROTT Sdn Bhd. PTT Synergy Executive Chairman Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said the project demonstrated Malaysia’s ability to deliver advanced industrial infrastructure for global supply chains.

Jabil established its first Penang operation in 1995. It now operates eight facilities across Malaysia, employs more than 14,000 people and supports industries including automotive, data centres, aerospace, healthcare and semiconductor equipment.

The latest investment further reinforces Penang’s role as a key manufacturing and logistics base within Jabil’s regional supply chain network.
