Mooncakes may remain the centrepiece of the Mid-Autumn Festival, but reusable packaging is increasingly becoming part of the celebration.
Sichuan Kitchen at Four Points by Sheraton Kuala Lumpur City Centre is embracing that trend with its Lunar Reverie Mooncake Collection, a halal-certified range that pairs traditional baked mooncakes with gift packaging designed for a second life after the festivities.
Instead of conventional decorative boxes, this year’s collection comes in two formats that double as everyday items. The Artisan Collection (RM128 nett) is presented in a reusable fabric knot bag inspired by East Asian wrapping traditions. The set includes two baked mooncakes, with flavours ranging from White Lotus Single Yolk and Pure Lotus Single Yolk to Black Sesame Lotus, Green Tea Lotus, Chocolate Lotus and Red Bean with Almond Flakes.
For a more premium option, the Signature Collection (RM198 nett) is housed in a wooden keepsake box fitted with a carry handle. The box can be repurposed as a storage case, while the mooncakes feature four classic flavours: White Lotus Single Yolk, Pure Lotus Single Yolk, Red Bean with Almond Flakes and Black Sesame Lotus.

The move reflects a broader shift towards festive gifts that are designed to last beyond the occasion, reducing the amount of decorative packaging that typically accompanies seasonal celebrations.
With halal certification, the collection is intended to cater to a wider audience while retaining the traditional flavours commonly associated with Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.
The Lunar Reverie Mooncake Collection is available for pre-order until Aug 15, 2026, with a 20% early-bird discount offered throughout the pre-order period.
