Govt, Professional Community Push AI-Ready Workforce

The government is stepping up collaboration with Malaysia’s professional bodies to develop AI-ready talent and strengthen the country’s position as a regional professional excellence hub.

In a Facebook post, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the effort was discussed during a meeting with a delegation from the Malaysian Professional Centre (Balai Ikhtisas Malaysia, BIM), led by its president Prof ChM Dr Juan Joon Ching.

The discussions centred on building future-ready talent and enhancing the preparedness of professionals to adapt to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI), a move Anwar said is vital to boosting Malaysia’s competitiveness and innovation capacity.

He described the professional community as a strategic partner in driving innovation, improving national competitiveness and supporting the government’s agenda.

Anwar also accepted an invitation to attend Hari Ikhtisas Malaysia, an event recognising the contributions of professionals to national development.

He expressed confidence that stronger government-industry collaboration would help produce more competitive, ethical and future-ready professionals to support Malaysia’s long-term economic growth.
