The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has warned the public to remain vigilant against scammers impersonating officers from the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) programmes to deceive victims.
The ministry said irresponsible parties have been using phone numbers resembling official MOF lines to pose as STR or SARA officers.
MOF stressed that it does not authorise any third party to use its official telephone numbers, while its officers are not permitted to collect payments from the public for any purpose.
Members of the public are advised never to disclose sensitive information, including their MyKad number, bank account details, TAC or OTP codes, banking passwords or PINs, as well as other personal and financial information.
For enquiries regarding STR and SARA assistance, the public can contact the official MOF helpline.
The ministry urged the public to exercise caution and verify any suspicious calls claiming to be from MOF before taking any action.
