Shopee Malaysia Offers Slew Of Initiatives Including Fee Waiver, Lower Commission To Support Sellers

Shopee Malaysia has launched a new suite of initiatives aimed at helping entrepreneurs start online businesses while providing existing sellers with greater cost savings and tools to accelerate growth.

The latest measures include platform fee waivers for new sellers, lower commission rates for selected essential goods, additional advertising credits and incentives to encourage the adoption of Shopee’s fulfilment services.

Ian Ho, vice president of Shopee Malaysia, said the company continues to invest in practical solutions to help micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) navigate an evolving business environment.

To encourage more entrepreneurs to join its marketplace, Shopee has enhanced its New Seller Programme by offering eligible local sellers a 60-day waiver on platform support fees, reducing their initial operating costs.

The company has also doubled the order threshold before commission fees apply, increasing the cap from 100 to 200 orders for up to 120 days from a seller’s first product listing or until the order limit is reached, whichever comes first.

Shopee said the enhancements are designed to lower barriers to entry, allowing new businesses to build brand visibility, attract customers and reinvest in growth during their early stages.

For established sellers, the e-commerce platform is reducing commission rates across more than 60 categories of everyday essentials, including milk, mineral water, cereal, bread and eggs.

Commission rates will be lowered by between 0.5% and 9%, with the largest reductions benefiting products in the cooking essentials, creamers, and butter and margarine categories. Following the latest revision, more than 120 essential goods categories will enjoy lower commission rates.
