The Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) will move to revoke the Malaysia Digital (MD) status granted to NSO Malaysia Sdn Bhd, following the cancellation of the company’s business licence by the Iskandar Puteri City Council (MBIP).
In a statement MDEC said it had taken note of MBIP’s decision to revoke the business licence of NSO Malaysia, which operates Network School at Forest City, Johor.
The agency said companies awarded Malaysia Digital status are required to obtain all relevant permits and licences necessary to conduct their approved business activities, while complying with all applicable laws, regulations and licensing conditions.
“The cancellation of NSO’s business licence constitutes non-compliance with these requirements,” MDEC said.
As a result, the agency said it is taking immediate steps to withdraw the company’s Malaysia Digital status.
MDEC stressed that while Malaysia remains committed to attracting high-quality digital investments, all companies operating under the Malaysia Digital initiative must fully comply with Malaysian laws and regulatory requirements.
“MDEC welcomes quality digital investments into Malaysia. However, full compliance with Malaysian laws and regulations cannot be compromised,” the agency said.
