Cathay Pacific has cancelled some flights to and from Hong Kong as Typhoon Noul moves closer to the region, disrupting air travel as authorities prepare for strong winds and heavy rain.
The airline said affected passengers would be rebooked on alternative services, while flight operations would be adjusted depending on the storm’s path and impact. Cathay has also waived rebooking, rerouting and refund charges for eligible travellers affected by the disruption.
Hong Kong’s weather authorities have warned that Noul could bring severe weather conditions to the city, with the storm approaching southern China after moving across the South China Sea.
Bloomberg noted that Cathay’s cancellations come as the typhoon threatens to disrupt one of Asia’s busiest aviation hubs, with airlines monitoring conditions ahead of further potential schedule changes.
Passengers travelling through Hong Kong International Airport have been advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport and to ensure their contact details are updated to receive the latest alerts.
