The Department of Societies Malaysia (JPPM) will allocate RM600,000 to upgrade community facilities and school infrastructure in Kampung Pendam, Sadong Jaya, Sarawak, under its 2026 adopted village and school programmes.
The funding will support improvements to basic amenities, safety and community facilities in Kampung Pendam, as well as infrastructure and learning facilities at Sekolah Kebangsaan Kampung Pendam, which have been selected as beneficiaries for this year’s initiative.
JPPM said the programmes reflect its commitment to strengthening local communities, enhancing residents’ well-being and creating a more conducive learning environment through collaborative government efforts.
The official launch is scheduled for Aug 1 at Kampung Pendam, with preparations currently underway involving close cooperation between JPPM, federal and state agencies, the school, local leaders and the village community.
JPPM Director-General Datuk Mohd Zulfikar Ahmad chaired a coordination meeting on July 24 in Samarahan, Sarawak, to finalise preparations, including agency participation, venue readiness, programme arrangements, security, protocol and logistics.
The launch event will feature community-focused activities, including the Jualan RAHMAH, government agency exhibitions, mobile service counters, health screenings and lucky draws.
JPPM said the initiative adopts a whole-of-government approach by leveraging the expertise and resources of multiple agencies to ensure development projects are implemented effectively and address the needs of the local community
