Negeri Sembilan’s economic performance, particularly in attracting investments, has surpassed the RM30 billion target set by Barisan Nasional (BN) in its manifesto for the 16th state election, caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said.
Aminuddin, who is also Pakatan Harapan (PH) Negeri Sembilan chairman, said the state recorded RM19 billion in investments last year, followed by nearly RM13 billion in the first six months of this year, bringing the total above RM30 billion within about one and a half years.
“If their target was only RM30 billion for five years, we have surpassed that figure in just over a year and a half,” he said during a campaign programme in Pekan Linggi, Port Dickson.
He stated the state government had set a higher benchmark of at least RM10 billion in investments annually, as continued growth was needed to strengthen Negeri Sembilan’s position as an investment destination, create employment opportunities and increase household incomes.
On the Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) development plan, Aminuddin said the PH-led state government had already revised its approach by prioritising industrial development over housing projects.
He said the strategy was aimed at creating more opportunities for residents to live and work in the state, reducing the need to seek employment elsewhere.
Meanwhile, Aminuddin stated several incentives proposed by BN were similar to initiatives previously introduced by PH. However, he said the PH administration had expanded its approach by extending certain benefits to the M40 group while continuing assistance for the B40 community.
