The government is considering introducing MADANI-priced tickets for the Formula 1 Bahrain Gulf Air Grand Prix 2026 at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit (SIC) in October, following public concerns over the high cost of attending the international race.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the proposal was prompted by feedback from Malaysians, many of whom described ticket prices as expensive despite strong demand.
“Many have already bought tickets, but some complained that prices are based on international rates,” he said.
“Some asked whether PMX could introduce MADANI tickets. They said even the cheapest tickets cost about RM200. We will consider it, but the seats may be further away. You cannot pay the MADANI ticket price and expect front-row seats,” he said.
Malaysia was announced on Sunday as the replacement host for the Formula 1 Bahrain Gulf Air Grand Prix 2026, with the race set to be held at Sepang in October.
The race was relocated after the Bahrain Grand Prix, originally scheduled for April, was postponed alongside the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix following the outbreak of conflict in West Asia.
Bahrain had hoped to stage the race on Oct 4, but escalating regional tensions this month forced organisers to abandon the plan.
