Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo has stepped down from his position, with President Prabowo Subianto accepting his resignation, Indonesia’s State Secretariat Minister Prasetyo Hadi said on Monday.
Senior Deputy Governor Destry Damayanti has been appointed interim governor following Warjiyo’s departure.
Destry said Warjiyo resigned for personal reasons.
Warjiyo was first appointed governor of Bank Indonesia in 2018 before securing a second five-year term in 2023.
Reuters could not immediately determine whether the government had begun the process of appointing a permanent successor.
