Mild Earthquake Strikes Off Mindanao, No Threat To Malaysia

A moderate magnitude 5.4 earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao, Philippines, at 7.06am today, with no tsunami threat to Malaysia.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the earthquake’s epicentre was located at 7.3° North and 126.5° East, approximately 85 kilometres northeast of Davao, Philippines.

The quake occurred at a depth of 44 kilometres.

MetMalaysia confirmed that the earthquake does not pose any tsunami threat to Malaysia.
