Sarawak emerged as Malaysia’s wettest state based on the latest daily weather observations, with Bintulu recording the country’s highest rainfall at 52.8mm on July 27.
Data released by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) showed several stations in Sarawak registered significant rainfall, underscoring widespread wet conditions across the state.
Besides Bintulu, Mulu recorded 42.8mm, Kapit 36.0mm, Miri 15.4mm, Sibu 9.2mm, Limbang 2.8mm, while Kuching reported no rainfall.
Labuan also experienced heavy rain, receiving 40.8mm, making it the second-highest rainfall reading nationwide.
Elsewhere, rainfall was generally lighter. Sabah’s highest reading was 23.0mm in Kota Kinabalu, while Johor recorded 16.2mm in Kluang. Terengganu’s Kerteh received 22.2mm, Negeri Sembilan’s Kuala Pilah 5.4mm, and Pahang’s Muadzam Shah 2.0mm.
Most stations across the northern states, including Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Selangor, Melaka and Kelantan, recorded little to no rainfall during the observation period.
Temperatures nationwide remained below 35°C, with the highest maximum temperature recorded at 33.6°C in Alor Setar, Kedah, while the coolest reading was 23.1°C in Cameron Highlands, Pahang.
