Hong Kong Exchange Fund Recorded Lower Investment Income Of US$17.7 Billion For 1H2026

Hong Kong’s Exchange Fund recorded a lower investment income of 134.7 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 17.7 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of this year, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) announced on Tuesday. The figure was much lower compares to 194.4 billion Hong Kong dollars recorded in the same period last year.

The investment income included 49.1 billion Hong Kong dollars in gains on bonds, 11.8 billion Hong Kong dollars in losses on Hong Kong equities and 53.7 billion Hong Kong dollars in gains on other equities, the HKMA said in a statement.

Total assets of the Exchange Fund stood at 4,463.6 billion Hong Kong dollars by the end of June, an increase of 302.4 billion Hong Kong dollars from the end of 2025. Accumulated surplus stood at 862.7 billion Hong Kong dollars by the end of June.
