Bursa Malaysia ended marginally higher on Aug 3 as late buying in selected large-cap stocks lifted the benchmark index amid improving investor sentiment, despite lingering geopolitical uncertainties.
At 5pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 0.83 point, or 0.05%, to 1,725.73 from 1,724.90 on July 31. The index traded between 1,719.47 and 1,729.72.
The broader indices were mixed, with the FBM 70 falling 25.28 points, or 0.14%, to 18,110.51, while the F4GBM eased 0.16 point to 1,034.34. The FBM Emas was nearly flat at 12,752.42, up 0.63 point, while the FBM Shariah declined 38.93 points, or 0.31%, to 12,557.36.
Hubline Bhd was the most actively traded counter, falling half a sen to three sen on 140.3 million shares. Tanco Holdings Bhd added one sen to 27 sen with 56.82 million shares changing hands.
Zetrix AI Bhd dropped two sen to 72.5 sen on 40.4 million shares, while VS Industry Bhd was unchanged at 23 sen on 38.97 million shares. HHRG Bhd declined 1.5 sen to 11.5 sen on 34.27 million shares.
Market turnover eased to 2.73 billion shares worth RM2.33 billion, from 3.1 billion shares valued at RM3.57 billion on July 31.
