The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has remanded three more individuals for five days over alleged collusion in the misappropriation of around RM450,000 in penalty notice charges involving Tabung Haji, Bernama reported.
The three men, all in their 50s, include a deputy general manager of construction, an occupational safety and health manager and a project director of a property company that is a subsidiary of a statutory body. They were remanded until Aug 9 following an application by MACC at the Putrajaya Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
According to a MACC source, the three suspects were detained at the commission’s headquarters at around 6pm on Tuesday.
“Initial investigations found that the three suspects colluded to commit the act between 2017 and 2019,” the source said.
The remand follows an investigation by a special team established to review and examine the findings of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Tabung Haji, which was made public through the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia’s (Jakim) official portal on July 29.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests when contacted and said the case is being investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
