China has launched a cybersecurity review of products sold by US-based cybersecurity company Palo Alto Networks, as authorities intensify scrutiny of technology products used in the country’s critical information infrastructure.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said the review aims to ensure the secure and stable operation of critical information infrastructure, prevent cybersecurity risks and safeguard national security.
The regulator said the review is being conducted in accordance with China’s National Security Law and Cybersecurity Law.
“The cybersecurity review is carried out to maintain the secure and stable operation of critical information infrastructure, prevent cybersecurity risks, and safeguard national security,” the CAC said.
The agency did not provide further details on the scope of the review, the specific products involved or the timeline for completing the assessment.
