Network School Founder Backs Sarawak AI-Powered Fuel Price Check Startup

Sarawakian entrepreneur Aaron Nagai has officially launched PetrolPrice, an artificial intelligence-driven energy intelligence platform designed to track, verify, and analyze global fuel prices in real time.

The startup has secured pre-seed funding from controversial yet prominent Silicon Valley investor Balaji Srinivasan—former Chief Technology Officer of Coinbase and Founder of Network School—via the Balaji Fund. The investment values PetrolPrice at US$2 million.

Srinivasan, known for early-stage investments in high-growth companies such as OpenSea, Luma, and Polymarket, brings significant global tech backing to the Malaysian-founded venture. However in Malaysia, the owner of the Network School has decied to move out after issues with the Johor State over ties with Israel.

As for the startup, PetrolPrice aggregates and processes data across 196 markets worldwide, covering essential energy commodities including petrol, diesel, and electricity. By combining automated data collection with AI analytics, the platform aims to make global energy pricing accessible and transparent for consumers, businesses, and policymakers alike.

“Fuel prices influence the daily lives of billions of people, yet global pricing data remains fragmented and difficult to access,” said Aaron Nagai, Founder of PetrolPrice. “We’re building the world’s most comprehensive energy intelligence platform, making energy pricing as accessible and transparent as financial market data.”

By positioning energy prices alongside the clarity typically reserved for financial markets, PetrolPrice aims to help users navigate fluctuating fuel costs and enable better-informed economic and policy decisions globally.
